A tab manager that promised to organize everything ended up adding its own layer of clutter I had to manage on top of my actual tabs. Raised Beds vs. Ground Planting: A Season-Long Comparison

I planted the same tomato variety in a raised bed and directly in the ground, ten feet apart, same sun exposure, same watering schedule. The raised bed plants fruited nine days earlier, thanks to soil that warmed up faster in spring, but needed watering almost twice as often by August.

Ground-planted tomatoes caught up in total yield by the end of the season and needed noticeably less intervention once established. The raised bed’s real advantage showed up in weed control, maybe fifteen minutes of weeding all season versus a weekly fight in the ground rows.

If your soil is decent already, ground planting saves water. If your soil is poor or compacted, the raised bed pays for itself in the first season.

Three Airport Layovers That Turned Into Accidental Day Trips

A nine-hour layover in Reykjavik turned into a quick loop to the Blue Lagoon and back, thanks to Iceland’s free transit desk that books you a shuttle if your layover is long enough. Istanbul offered something similar, a free guided tour for transit passengers over six hours, which got me into the Blue Mosque and back with time to spare.

Singapore was the best of the three: a free city tour desk right past security, no extra visa hassle, and a stop at the Merlion that cost nothing but the layover I already had booked anyway.
