Rosemary has survived two weeks of forgotten watering, a windowsill with barely four hours of direct light, and one accidental frost I forgot to bring it in from. Basil would have died from any one of those on its own.
The trick with rosemary isn’t attention, it’s drainage. A pot with real drainage holes and a sandy potting mix matters more than how often you water it. Overwatering in poorly draining soil is the only thing that’s actually killed a rosemary plant of mine.
If you’ve given up on herbs after killing basil twice, start with rosemary instead. It’s far more forgiving of the mistakes beginners actually make.
